Aerys I Targaryen

First of his name. A scholar-king who came to the throne after his father and elder brother were carried off by the Great Spring Sickness, and reigned twelve years through famine, drought, and the Second Blackfyre Rebellion. He cared nothing for ruling and left it to his Hand Bloodraven; his loveless marriage to Aelinor Penrose produced no children, and at his death the throne passed to his youngest brother Maekar.
